NHS and Healthcare
My career has focused on the NHS, including the Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) programme to reduce unwarranted variation. I’ve worked on a number of issues and projects, including hepatitis C, urology and improving the quality of care for the armed forces community. I’ve also had a few secondments or additional roles, such as supporting families at the NHS Nightingale Hospital London, international visits and as an accredited non-religious pastoral carer (hospital chaplain).

Religion and worldviews
I’m interested in exploring religion as a human creation. I don’t believe in the supernatural, but I’m fascinated by religion and think that religious thought and practice can be meaningful and helpful.
I am the Secretary and a Trustee of the Sea of Faith Network, a UK Charity (Regd 1113177) that explores and promotes religion and worldviews as valuable human creations.
I’m also a member of Humanists UK, and have been a humanist (non-religious) pastoral carer and wedding celebrant. As a wedding celebrant, my specific interest is in ceremonies for friends, LGBTQ+ couples and people interested in incorporating religious tradition without the beliefs.
I attend St Paul’s Bow Common, a progressive and liberal Anglo-Catholic Parish in East London, where I’ve also been on the Parochial Church Council as Secretary and been the Deanery Synod representative. St Paul’s Bow Common has a history and tradition, as well as a present ethos, of being radically loving, inclusive and progressive.
