Weddings

Over the years, quite a few friends have joked that if they were getting married they would like me to do their wedding ceremony. More recently, my friends actually started getting engaged and asking me seriously. So during the lockdown, I took the chance to train and became an accredited wedding celebrant with Humanists UK.

I mostly conduct wedding ceremonies at the request of my friends, but my other special interests include:

LGBTQ+ ceremonies

Being gay myself, I would be delighted to help same-sex couples mark their marriage or partnership. Whether this means an otherwise quite traditional ceremony, or something very different.

‘Christian Atheist’ ceremonies – including tradition without the doctrine

I am a Humanist, but also a Christian Atheist. I’m happy to include culturally religious elements in a ceremony in a way which doesn’t require belief in the existence of god, or adherence to creeds or doctrines.

There is a great opportunity with a Humanist wedding ceremony to do things a bit differently, and create a ceremony that is true reflection of you as a couple, while also being inclusive of your family and guests.

As your celebrant, I would meet with you to explore your ideas for your ceremony and get a sense of your relationship. I will then suggest to you a bespoke script for your ceremony, which we can adapt together until it feels exactly right. I am confident that we can create a ceremony which will balance what you are looking for – a good script will balance gravitas and sense of occasion with warmth and fun. What your ceremony will look like will depend on your tastes and preferences, but I will be helping you to find out what they are.

There is no obligation from getting in touch, we would have an introductory call/meeting to find out a bit more about you and then you can decide whether/how you want to proceed.
